DEFINITION:
Loss, separation, or death of a significant other from the student's peer group, family, or student's support base system. |
PREVENTION:
Identify the situation as the student being temporarily "at-risk"; Identify and assist in the development of a plan for crisis situation; Identify and assemble school and community resource. |
CRISIS:
Provide emotional support to those affected by the loss, death, or separation; Provide teachers and parents with resources; Refer affected persons to appropriate services in and outside the school. |
INTERVENTION:
Provide information and emotional support for those affected by the situation. |
